TURNING
THE TABLES IN SCOTLAND
During my travels down south,
I used each night I was DJing at as an opportunity to make
as many connections within the
scene as possible which for any up & coming DJ reading this is an essential tool in you getting places. At every gig, I would spend the night
talking with anyone I thought could be useful in furthering my carrer and getting things off the ground in Scotland – I am
in no doubts this was time well spent.
Back in Scotland, the first events
I was involved in promotion wise were Street Knowledge and
Jungle Park, which were two
of the first Jungle events to be staged in Edinburgh the capital of Scotland, and
it was here my earlier networking strted to come into play.
Jungle Park was staged at 9c Victoria Street, now the Liquid
Room and the two shows I promoted featured DJ Ron, DJ Frenzic
then Dazee and Mc Jakes. <See

Street Knowledge, without
doubt the better of the two events, was a co-promotion
between KMC and myself and ran once a
month at the venue in Edinburgh which is no longer. The first event saw us showcase
a virtually unknown Roni Size alongside Mc Dynamite on the
mic, making their debut appearance in Scotland. We then brought
up DJ SS, Ned Ryder and followed that up
with Doc Scott and Probe. There can be
no question that Street Knowledge was the first sure sign
that something might come of the Jungle scene north of the
border.
