THE BIG MOVE

Throughout my career in the UK Jungle and Drum & Bass scene there has always been this little voice at the back of my mind saying, you need to get down south and give things a go! Obviously with the scene originating in England the opportunities are far bigger than they ever will be in Scotland which is why the scene down south is such a big draw for anybody involved in the industry including myself. The only thing realistically holding me back for all this time was my commitment to the scene in Scotland and a certain amount of pride.

So having felt I had done my bit for the time being I decided the time was right to go for it. In the summer of 2005 I made the decision to finally shut up shop and head across the border to England and Surrey which is only thirty minutes from central London. I have now lived there for over 10 months and in that time apart from slowly settling into a whole new way of life I've been contacting many people in the scene I've become good friends with over the years letting them know I'm here at last!. Having the opportunity to go and see people face to face about things is a huge bonus and makes it so much easier to open doors. As far as getting myself sorted on the DJ front I have pretty much taken my foot of the pedal in terms of looking for the time being as I'm concentrating on organising a world tour for 2007 and developing my production skills for the launch of my new label Invade Recordings.

My main focus when I got down here was to get myself onto a radio station as quickly as possible as I felt that I needed to get my name out on the streets again which in a way for me is like starting again. I have previously worked many times for Kool FM in London who throughout the nineties were without question the leading pirate for Jungle and Drum & Bass music. But having made enquiries in London I quickly found out that there was a new kid on the block called Origin FM who are the first Drum & Bass pirate to broadcast twenty four hours a day on the FM dial. After contacting Origin they got back to me and were well up for me coming aboard the station. I now do a fortnightly rotational show with Vital Elements on a Friday night from 10pm until 12am. The broadcast range covers pretty much the whole of London and some surrounding counties but out with that you need to tune in online. This for me is my launch pad for the next stage in my journey in the scene which I have no doubt will be a massive challenge for me but I have always thrived on setting myself goals and going for them. The big difference with living in Scotland and living in England is the sheer size of the scene and the amount of talent I'm up against which makes it all the more exciting in my mind. <Origin FM Poster>
